We drove east to Holland, MI over the weekend and went to the Renaissance Faire. We have never been, didn't know what to expect, but thought we'd check it out. I knew there would be turkey legs and lots of people dressed like they live in the Shire. Turns out that it's kind of like a downscale Disney (pirates of the caribbean mostly), along

with lots of things to buy (you pay to get in, then they just sell you stuff) and some things to see (jousting, jugglers, fire-throwers, Jack Sparrow look-alike contests, etc). The funniest part was the people who show up in full RenFaire regalia - whether it be a LOTR outfit, Pirates of the Caribbean, or just something very hobbit-looking - people are totally in to it.
There are also lots of people like Dave and me, just staring and laughing at the other people. All in all, a fun(ny) day with a beer sampling, a turkey leg and very nice weather. I think the one in CA is in Napa - you guys should check it out!

She was, but in fairness this was my idea. Nice to do once...don't see a reason ever to do it again, though.
